Elmer's observations.

No one can say senior citizens or retirees do not continue their education.

Lately I have learned a great deal about my eyes and vision in general. I learned arthritis is very painful and will cause deformation. I have learned heart burn and heart problems are very similar. Both I can do without. I learned to get along with less possessions and income. I really do not need to go across town to a job I hate. I learned I can fall and it hurts in more places than just the body part I fell on. I have learned to get along with less hair and to clean the bathroom sinks and drains more often. I have learned to stay indoors when it is extremely hot out. The grass & weeds may grow a little during that time, but I no longer care. I have learned to turn up the volume of the TV because they do not broadcast the sound so loud anymore. I have learned what I thought was cute & funny when my young kids and later, grand-kids did it, is not so now when others do the same.

Many continue to learn they can pay extortion prices at the gas pump and still get where they want to go. They continue to re-learn the meaning of 'sticker shock' while shopping for groceries. Both of which we have not learned to do without. Some of us have to travel with new wheels which just happens to be attached to a wheelchair. Others have learned to walk with the help of a cane or other walking devise. Many call us stubborn but we prefer 'independent'. After a long life time of learning, we have many things to teach but no one wants our teaching's. Every young person believes they know everything.

Just today I learned the skin on the back of my hands is wrinkled. I have seen this uncommon phenom on others in the extended family. Grandpa and Grandma had it as well as loose skin under the chin. As did their brothers and sisters. Even my dad had it. But until today, I had not. I was and still am, content to go thru life not knowing I have aged and I do not look like I did thirty years ago. I think aging is the curse of good eye sight. Or another birthday coming up.

Yes, the education just keeps on giving. No Brag, Just Fact.
